Mrs. Grace Amexo-Gbetornyeku, a Supply Chain Manager at Gokals-Laborex Limited, a pharmaceutical branch of CFAO-Ghana, has called on the youth to assume pivotal roles in their communities. She said the youth must rise to become the core around which development efforts revolve. Mrs. Amexo-Gbetornyeku, who is also the CEO of Krensi Enterprise, a dealer in US and UK groceries, made the call at the launch of the 2024 Ehi Nutome Gali Za in Ehi Adelakoekorfe in the Volta Region. She highlighted the crucial role of the youth in driving development, likening their efforts to the workers in an anthill. 'The youth of Ehi and its environs are the now-future change makers so they must embrace their responsibilities and work together for a brighter future.' She stressed the importance of beginning to build the future now, without waiting for nonexistent opportunities. Comparing the strength of the youth to that of oxen, Mrs Amexo-Gbetornyeku warned that if not harnessed for productive, constructive, and positive ca uses, the communities would have no future. She appealed to the Chiefs, opinion leaders, and prominent individuals and called for special attention to be given to education and skill training for the youth. She urged teachers and educational stakeholders to remain dedicated and goal-driven in preparing young people for their future roles. Mrs. Amexo-Gbetornyeku again highlighted the importance of parental investment in children's education, describing it as the catalyst for youth development. 'Ehi does not have mineral resources apart from green vegetation and limited farm produce. However, we can still develop,' she said. She said to the examples of Japan and Switzerland, which, despite having limited natural resources, invested heavily in education and training and achieved remarkable development. Mrs. Amexo-Gbetornyeku underscored that education is akin to gold and diamonds, urging everyone to rally behind the cause of youth development for the collective advancement of the various communities.
