The President of the Republic considered Monday that the Ribeira Grande de Santiago deserves to have an autonomous space with minimum, adequate and dignified conditions of a municipality which houses the World Heritage Site.

During his morning visit to the municipality of Ribeira Grande de Santiago to find out about the difficulties and ongoing projects in the municipality, Jorge Carlos Fonseca acknowledged there were some gains, but stressed that there are problems still remain.

“There are still problems, for example a municipality like Ribeira Grande, which houses the World Heritage city has to have an adequate headquarters building. The headquarters of the municipality is very tight, the services are all very uncomfortable despite the efforts to use the space”, he said.
