Vicenta Fernandes elected president of the Working Group 1325 Cabo Verde

Vicenta Fernandes, elected this Thursday president of the Working Group 13 25 Cabo Verde, said this group will work on the creation of the national plan and in promoting peace and combating youth and gender-based violence.

Vicenta Fernandes, who is president of the Cabo Verdean Association for combating Gender-Based Violence (ACLCVBG) said in a statement to the press on the sidelines of the general assembly to elect management bodies of the Women, Youth Peace and Security Working Group (GTFJPS-AOS), held this Thursday, a lot of things will now change with Cabo Verde’s membership to the group.

“Cabo Verde was not yet part of the 1325 movement, as a civil society we will make a strong advocacy with the Government so that Cabo Verde has its plan, only then can we work together, with the national plan and the network plan on this theme, which is mainly the promotion of peace”, she said.

This responsible recalled that Cabo Verde was the only country in the sub-region did not yet have a plan for Resolution 1325 and since Cabo Verde is a region free of armed conflicts, the application of resolution 1325 will be made on the themes of VBG, women’s empowerment, youth and peace.
