UNDP representative says “Lavanta Fund” will respond to the crisis and the impact of the COVID-19

The representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Cabo Verde, Steven Ursino, said the “Lavanta Fund” project, launched Monday, will respond to the crisis and the impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Steven Ursino, who was speaking to the press on the sidelines of the “Lavanta Fund” launch ceremony, explained that the fund, budgeted at 300.000 dollars, will serve as entrepreneurship projects aimed at young people and women and diversify the actions promoted by the Government of Cabo Verde.

The UNDP representative, who spoke of the contribution of entrepreneurship and innovation to the prosperity of the Cabo Verdean economy, assured the fund aims to finance “good projects for young people and women from all over the islands”.

According to Steven Ursino, vigorous entrepreneurship and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are among the most important conditions to successfully face the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
