Two people, including the incumbent Member of Parliament have filed their nominations to contest the Adaklu constituency Parliamentary seat at the Electoral Commission office at Adaklu Waya. They are Mr. Governs Kwame. Agbodza, the incumbent who is standing on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Mr. Bright Kwame Nyatsikor, Volta/Oti Regional Public Relations Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority, who filed on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Mr. Jerry Ameko, Chairman of the Adaklu Constituency NDC accompanied by some constituency executives of the party filed on behalf of Mr. Agbodza who is also the Minority Chief Whip in Parliament. Mr. Nyatsikor was also accompanied by NPP constituency executives to file his nomination. While Mr. Ameko was optimistic of Mr. Agbodza retaining the seat, Mr. Nyatsikor was optimistic of snatching it from the NDC saying 'the dynamics have changed.' The Adaklu Parliamentary seat has been a safe one for the NDC since its inceptio n in 2012. In the 2020 elections, Mr. Agbodza won the seat defeating two other contestants with 13,117 votes representing 85.55 per cent of the total valid votes cast. Mr. Raybon-Evans Anyadi of the NPP got 2,215 votes representing 14.45 per cent of the valid votes cast whilst Mr. Edward Agbovi of the LPG got 0 votes. The NPP has seen an increase in the voting pattern in the constituency since 2012 in the Parliamentary elections. In 2012 Mr Justice Jowawa Aklamanu got 895 votes representing 6.68 per cent of the total valid votes, in 2016 Mr Samuel Buame got 1,048 representing 9.2 per cent of the total valid votes and in 2020 Mr Anyadi garnered 2,215 representing 14.45 of the total valid votes cast.
