Total electricity losses in 2021 accounted for more than 25% of production – Electra

Total electricity losses in 2021 in Cabo Verde accounted for more than 25 percent (%) of national production, according to data released on Wednesday, the 24th, by the Electricity and Water Company (Electra).

“Total electricity losses were 112.432.364 kilowatts/hour (kwh) representing 25.5% of national production,” Electra data refers, which point to large losses also in the water sector, with a highlight for the islands of São Vicente, with 41.6% and Sal, 39.2%.

According to the statistics that are published on the company’s website, a total of 441.580.109 kwh of electricity and 8.687.416 cubic meters (m3) of water were produced, with 286.724.566 kwh of electricity and 6.971.992 m3 of water being sold.

The same document states that the company ended 2021 with 162.958 active electricity customers, of which 15.246 are beneficiaries of the social tariff and 31.031 water customers, with 847 framed in the social water tariff.
