The Special law based on gender equality needs to be revised, says Minister

Praia: The Minister of State, Family, Inclusion and Social Development said, this Monday that the special law based on gender equality needs revision in order to increase the speed of action, prevention and articulation between services.

Fernando Elísio Freire made this statement at the swearing-in ceremony of the new members of the Interministerial Commission for the Transversalization of Gender Equality called the Gender Commission (Comissão Interministerial para a Transversalização da Igualdade de Género designada Comissão do Género – GC) which took place thisafternoon in the banquet hall of the Government Palace.

The official, who considered the act “important” for representing what the country wants, also stressed that the intention is to fulfill the plan of being a nation of equal opportunities, gender equality and everyone before the Nation.

“It is a happy coincidence that we are sworn in to the commission two days after the approval of the State budget for 2023, which is ambitious, connected with what is wanted for the country in terms of development, equality of opportunity and gender, inclusive and solidary in all areas”. He said, emphasizing that the commission has the responsibility of not letting any entity promote gender inequality.
