The Minister of Business Development said Thursday in Mindelo that the State will assume the full guarantee and risk so that young people can have access to finance for ideas based on the digital economy.
Olavo Correia made the announcement Thursday in Mindelo, presiding over the opening of the igrpweb Open Source workshop organized by the Operational Center for the Information Society (NOSi).
According to the Minister, the program should be called Investment Bank for young people and is already being developed in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and should be taken to the Council of Ministers and be included in the 2023 State Budget.
The State, he added, will take the full guarantee and risk so that the young people can have access to finance “as long as the projects are well assembled, well organized and give assurances that he/she will manage the project responsibly”.
The idea, Olavo Correia said, is to establish a pilot institution in Cabo Verde to be focused on creating opportunities for the youth layer, particularly in the digital area, which he believes is the “accelerator” of other economic activities.
