Secretary-General of the UNTC-CS accuses Government of “appointing political commissioners” to the direction of the INPS

The Secretary General of the National Union of Trade Unions of Cabo Verde – Central Union (UNTC-CS) on Thursday accused the Government of “appointing political commissioners” to the board of the National Institute of Social Security (INPS).

Joaquina Almeida, who spoke to reporters on Thursday morning, on the sidelines of the training on “Social Security in Cabo Verde”, promoted by UNTC-CS, reacted to the appointment of Mário Rui Lopes Fernandes as the new chairman of the board of directors of INPS.

According to Resolution No. 57/2022 of September 15, published in the Official Bulletin, Orlanda Maria Duarte Santos Ferreira is removed from the position of chairman of the board of directors of INPS and it was appointed Mário Rui Lopes Fernandes to the position of chairman of the board of directors of INPS, as chairman of the executive committee.

As the INPS is an institution for workers and employers, Joaquina Almeida argued that the management of the executive board should have a representative of workers and employers.
