São Vicente: Lack of incinerator is “main challenge” for the treatment of hazardous hospital waste – president INSP

The president of the National Institute of Public Health (INSP), Maria da Luz Lima, assured that the lack of an incinerator has been the main constraint, in São Vicente, for the treatment of hazardous hospital waste.

The person in charge assured Inforpress on the sidelines of a training held starting today, in Mindelo, on hospital waste management and aimed at technicians and entities in the Barlavento area.

The idea of the training action, according to the same source, is to make people understand the importance of good management of hospital waste at national level, although there are still some challenges, such as, in the case of São Vicente, where there is no incinerator for the destruction of hazardous hospital waste.

Maria da Luz Lima assured that the matter is already being discussed together with the city Hall, with the São Vicente Health Department and with the Baptista de Sousa Hospital in order to “quickly operationalize” its installation.
