São Vicente: FAO and Ministry of the Sea deliver refrigerated car to the community of São Pedro

The Ministry of the Sea and FAO delivered a refrigerated car this Thursday afternoon that will allow the population of the fishing community of São Pedro to have a “new life” and realize a “long cherished dream” ”.

The president of the Fishermen’s Association of São Pedro, Luís Andrade, who, during the delivery act, at the institution’s headquarters, said he was “proud” with the donation that will allow the community to have a “new life” and still be able to having an opportunity to have one more job for a head of family.

“We have already hit several keys, we have had several meetings, until today we managed to fulfill a dream that was about to come true for a long time”, underlined the person in charge.

For her part, the representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in Cape Verde, Ana Touza, said she believes that the vehicle will solve a “big problem” which is the loss of products due to the lack of a good cold chain, and identified as one of the “big challenges” of fishing communities.
