São Vicente: Biosfera 1 inaugurates mural in São Pedro’s School framed in the policy of approaching communities

The environmental association Biosfera 1 inaugurated a mural at The Basic School of São Pedro as a first initiative of this kind, framed in the policy of approaching fishing communities, as explained by the president of the institution, Tommy Melo.

This project, according to the same source stated to Inforpress, is part of a larger project and a new axis of strategy from the Biosphere to approach coastal communities in general.

“We have been developing projects in which we try to integrate communities into the blue economy and we have tried to make themselves more dynamic through income-generating activities and are sustainable and environmentally friendly,” he said.

The mural, which depicts cagarra, an endangered seabird, was conceived in partnership with the Airports and Air Safety company (ASA) and allowed to give “more color” to this type of awareness, which started in São Pedro, but should continue by other communities such as Salamansa and Calhau and even on other islands, such as Santo Antão, Sal and São Nicolau.
