São Nicolau: Father Francisco Brito is the new parish priest of the Nossa Senhora do Rosário parish

The Nossa Senhora do Rosário parish, in Ribeira Brava, starts this Sunday with a new parish priest, Father Francisco Brito, who replaces Father Eliseu Lopes.

The new parish priest was sworn in by the Bishop of the Diocese of Mindelo, Don Ildo Fortes, who said it was a “very significant” ceremony for the church.

“It is a celebration of responsibility in which the Bishop comes on purpose to grant to the pastor of the church, to deliver, trust and present the new parish priest to the community,” the Bishop said.

To Inforpress, the new parish priest, Father Francisco Brito, said he was ready to work in a “djunta mon” (mutual help, in free translation to English) with the parish faithful, in order to fulfill the church “main mission”, which is to “walk all together”.

In turn, the outgoing parish priest, Eliseu Lopes, who has commanded the parish for the past five years, and who will henceforth take over the Nossa Senhora de Santo António parish, on the Sal Island, said that he leaves São Nicolau, with nostalgia, but above all with a “feeling of gratitude” and “mission accomplished”.
