Santiago: Jassira Monteiro announces willingness to run for mayor of Santa Catarina

The current mayor of Santa Catarina, Jassira Monteiro, this Thursday expressed her desire to continue at the forefront of the destinies of this municipality in the interior of Santiago, which celebrates this Friday, 25th, the 188 years of its creation.

“I have this willingness [to run for the Presidency of the City Hall of Santa Catarina]. Of course, I will only be a candidate if there are the conditions to do so, and above all the support of the party [Movement for Democracy (MpD)], but there is this will”, declared the only female mayor in the country.

Jassira Monteiro maintained in statements to Inforpress that this desire is due to the balance of “great hope” and “positive” of the first two years of the city council team that she leads, despite having had a complicated start, in an allusion to the death of former mayor José Alves Fernandes.

“Today we started and we are not going to stop”, she assured, promising “better days” for Santa Catarina and for the people of Santa Catarina in the most diverse sectors of development.
