Sandbontenga: The High Commissioner of Sandbondtenga Province, Idrissa Gamsonre, chaired an information meeting on Monday in Kaya to inaugurate Phase II of the mapping of associations, NGOs, and cooperatives in the province. This meeting aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of the census challenges and to familiarize them with the data collection tool.
According to Burkina Information Agency, following the initial phase in Bam and Namentenga, Sandbondtenga is now hosting census agents from various NGOs and associations active in the Koulse region. Idrissa Gamsonre, the High Commissioner of the province, officially launched the census, allowing the Regional Directorate of Economy and Planning (DREP) of Koulse to elucidate the challenges of the mapping initiative. The DREP also introduced the data collection tool to leaders of local NGOs and associations.
In his address, High Commissioner Gamsonre articulated that the census project is designed to identify stakeholders in the province and the activities they are engaged in. “We want to know the stakeholders in order to ensure better coordination of actions for the benefit of development,” he emphasized.
The mission from the DREP, led by Regis Ilboudo, provided a detailed presentation of the data collection sheet. This sheet focuses on identifying organizations, tracking the evolution of investments from 2021 to 2024, and documenting projects and programs at various stages, whether they are being implemented, initiated, or concluded.
Scheduled to run from September 15 to 26, 2025, the census will take place daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Kaya High Commission. It requires the first three leaders of each association, NGO, or cooperative to submit copies of their identification documents and fill out a specific form available on site.
Idrissa Gamsonre called upon all associations to mobilize and ensure the success of this important mapping initiative.
