Ouagadougou: Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo chaired the first ordinary session of the National Council for the Modernization of Administration and Good Governance (CN-MABG) in Ouagadougou. This session aimed to review the progress of the National Strategy for the Modernization of Public Administration (SN-MAP) and promote good governance.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the focus of the meeting was the implementation status for 2024 of the SN-MAP, major actions to promote good governance, and an evaluation of the administration’s performance. The 2024 annual report highlighted a significant increase in the physical execution rate of the strategy’s activities, reaching 74.89% compared to 31.86% in 2023. This progress demonstrates the strides made in implementing reforms to enhance the efficiency of public services.
During the session, the Prime Minister emphasized the vision of President Ibrahim Traore, which aligns with citizens’ expectations for sovereignty and good governance. He contextualized the challenges of the session within the People’s Progressive Revolution, aiming for the country’s structural and sustainable transformation. The administration is called to eliminate bureaucratic inefficiencies and establish itself as a center of excellence serving the citizens.
Prime Minister Ouedraogo urged various administrative bodies and public institutions to abandon detrimental practices, such as frequent organizational changes and unhealthy competition, to focus on addressing citizens’ legitimate needs.
Minister of Civil Service, Labor and Social Protection, Mathias Traore, identified key modernization challenges, emphasizing the need for high-value institutional reforms and the promotion of electronic administration through simplifying and digitalizing procedures.
To implement the presidential vision effectively, the Prime Minister provided guidelines to accelerate digitalization, streamline administrative structures, and promote transparency and accountability. These priorities will be translated into concrete actions by 2026, with a new national strategy focusing on effective human resource management and the operationalization of a single virtual counter, alongside a white paper promoting the values of the Burkinabe public service.
