Beijing: China celebrated the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in Beijing on Wednesday. President Xi Jinping emphasized that “common security can only be guaranteed and preserved when nations around the world treat each other as equals.”
According to Burkina Information Agency, President Xi Jinping stated that eliminating the root causes of war and preventing the recurrence of historical tragedies require nations to treat each other as equals, live in harmony, and support one another. He made these remarks during a grand gathering commemorating the significant historical victory, which marked China’s first complete triumph against foreign aggression in modern history.
Xi, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, highlighted the importance of the national united front against aggression, advocated by the CPC. He acknowledged the major contributions of the Chinese people to human civilization and world peace, achieved through immense sacrifices in the war.
The Chinese leader remarked on the current global situation, where humanity faces a choice between peace and war, dialogue and confrontation, and between win-win outcomes and zero-sum games. He reiterated China’s commitment to standing on the right side of history and human progress, following a path of peaceful development and collaborating with the global community to build a shared future for humanity.
Xi called for unity among all ethnic groups in China, urging them to work diligently under the leadership of the CPC to build a strong nation and advance national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization. He also emphasized the strategic role of the People’s Liberation Army in providing support for national rejuvenation and contributing to world peace and development.
Furthermore, Xi urged the PLA to develop into world-class forces, with a resolute commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
