President of the Republic makes this week an official five-day visit to Portugal

The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, is making an official visit to Portugal this week, between July 27 – 31, confirmed to Inforpress source from the Embassy of Cabo Verde in Lisbon.

Elected in October 2021, and sworn in the following month, this is the first official visit José Maria Neves makes to Portugal as Head of State, with the arrival scheduled for this European country for Wednesday, the 27th.

In addition to official State meetings, the former Prime Minister (2001 to 2016) has also scheduled meetings with the Cabo Verdean community based in Portugal.

José Maria Neves’ visit to Portugal comes days after the Government approved in the Council of Ministers the amendments to the Law on foreigners, allowing to accommodate in national legislation the rules of the mobility agreement within the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLP), approved a year ago.
