PR urged the Government to take measures to offset negative effects of rising prices of fuels and essential goods

The President of the Republic today urged the Government to make an effort to find balance solutions in order to compensate and mitigate the negative effects of rising prices of fuels and essential goods in the country.

According to the Head of State, the increase in prices of fuel and essential goods in Cabo Verde has generated concerns and difficulties for Cabo Verdean families, although he acknowledges this problem does not affect only the archipelago.

He also pointed out that there are factors that condition these price increases which are not fully controlled by the Government, but argued that even in the context of many difficulties, the Government should implement measures to cushion the negative effects of price increases.

Jorge Carlos Fonseca added that as far as possible, the Government should make an effort to ensure that there are measures in the current situation, taking as an example the measures adopted by other countries which can be applied and adapted to the reality of Cabo Verde.
