PR calls for the inclusion of literature and authors in mobility agreements

The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, said Saturday it was “fundamental” to continue to give spaces for freedom to creations and called on States to include literature and authors in mobility agreements.

“It is important to think about it and think about the vetoes points in relation to these measures. Believe me that I will take this issue to the CPLP so we can step up on this,” he said, emphasizing that the book is “very close to our heart to just sell for a lot of money.”

José Maria Neves, who was speaking at the closing ceremony of the 10th edition of the Portuguese-speaking Writers Meeting, also stressed that States should circulate the book and open people to the beauty of reading.

The Minister of Culture, Abraão Vicente, who in his communication decided to refer to the events that plague the world, stressed that today being a writer, intellectual or creator is no longer enough, since you can no longer be an island without taking into account the environment that involves everyone and the world.

In this process of ideas, he questioned what books should be put on the table of those who fire missiles and rocket launchers and what to send to world leaders on peace, and encouraged everyone to have an intellectual debate linked to the book and literature be made in universal standards.
