Poor telephone coverage is compromising internal tourism in some localities in the countryside of the municipality of Porto Novo, in Santo Antão, according to operators.
This is the case of Ribeira Fria, an area without coverage of the fixed and mobile network, a situation according to tour operator Adilson Gomes, is compromising internal tourism in this locality, activity affected also by difficulties in terms of accessibility.
According to this operator, people really want to visit Ribeira Fria but when they want to make reservations they give up because there is no telephone network.
The lack of a decent road has been hindering the tourists access to this area, stated the same source, for whom the lack of road and telephone are two constraints hindering the development of this agricultural and tourist area.
