Porto Novo: Forty thousand liters of brandy exported in three years to Europe – Company

Forty thousand liters of grogue produced in the municipality of Porto Novo, in Santo Antão, have been exported to the European market in the last three years, the exporting company Música e Grogue reported.

According to Adriel Mendes, representing the company that has a warehouse for collection, treatment and export of grogue, 40.000 liters of brandy have been exported since 2018, produced mainly in the Tarrafal de Monte Trigo and Ribeira da Cruz.

The grogue is placed on the European market from France.

The idea, according to the same source, is to expand the export of grogue, taking into account “the great demand” of this product across borders, and this company can move, “in a short time”, to export, also to the North American market.

The producers are pleased with the creation of the warehouse, known as the grogue house, as it will enable the grogue “made in” Porto Novo to be “increasingly known” in the international market.
