Porto Novo: EU praises the municipality’s commitment to food safety in the municipality

The head of European Union (EU) cooperation, Pedro Campo-Llopis, this Wednesday praised the commitment of the City Hall of Porto Novo, aiming to guarantee food security in this municipality of Santo Antão.

Pedro Campo-Llopis, who was speaking at the opening of the seminar on climate change: food and sustainable management of natural resources, taking place in Porto Novo, said that the municipality has been “proactive” in terms of food security, highlighting the actions carried out in this regard.

In the municipality of Porto Novo, in addition to the assistance program for “hundreds” of families in extremely vulnerable situations, projects have been carried out, namely in terms of agriculture and livestock, aimed at ensuring the food security of the populations.

Among others, it stands out, the projects related to urban and peri-urban agriculture, which include dozens of families, through the distribution of plots for agricultural practice.
