The elderly in Porto Novo, Santo Antão, are benefiting from a system of home care and food assistance, through the three day centers in this municipality, in an initiative of the Porto Novo city council. .
In addition to providing care to the elderly through day centers and at home, the Porto Novo council guarantees that it is also supporting the elderly in this municipality in vaccinating against covid-19, in order to immunize this population and guarantee their protection. .
“In this municipality, we have prioritized various actions with a view to guaranteeing the protection and well-being of our elderly people. We have adopted a home-based care system, in addition to food assistance and constant support from the day centres, which are under the responsibility of the municipality”, underlined the city council, in a note.
It should be noted that this Tuesday, 15th, the World Day for Raising Awareness of Violence against the Elderly was commemorated, a date established in 2006 by the United Nations and the International Network for the Prevention of Violence against the Elderly, to “reflect on violence against the elderly”.
