The Association for the Defense of the Heritage of Mértola, Portugal, praised the fact that the Casa de Meio experimental field, in Porto Novo, is “already giving fruit”, with the first pumpkin harvest.
The Casa de Meio experimental field was installed within the scope of the Agro-Forestry project in Santo Antão, which is since March this year being promoted by the Association for the Defense of the Heritage of Mértola, with the European Union funding, under the GCCA+West Africa initiative.
As part of this project, lasting 20 months, the Casa de Meio and Planalto Leste experimental fields have already been installed, which are a kind of “natural laboratory for intelligent, resilient and sustainable agriculture in the face of climate change” in Santo Antão, explains this Portuguese non-governmental organization.
It remains to be installed the third experimental field, which will be located in the North Plateau, an action that should take place in the course of this year.
