Pipeline Works Initiated in Bondokuy to Mitigate Flood Risks

Mouhoun: The municipality of Bondokuy launched, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, pipeline works over a distance of 950 m, along national road no. 10, in order to improve sanitation, reduce flood risks and provide a healthier living environment for residents.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the sanitation works are funded by the municipal budget and reflect the commitment of local authorities to address the pressing concerns of the population. Floods, often recorded during the rainy season, have been causing damage to homes, businesses, and road infrastructure.

A representative of the special delegation remarked, “This work provides a concrete response to the population’s expectations. It will channel runoff water, protect local residents, and ensure better traffic flow on this strategic route,” expressing gratitude to all members involved in the initiative.

For traders and road users, the construction of these gutters is seen as a relief. They have often experienced losses due to floods. With these pipelines, a city trader mentioned that activities will take place in better conditions.

The special delegation of the commune of Bondokuy aims, through this project, to strengthen its sanitation and urbanization program. It plans to gradually extend this type of infrastructure to other vulnerable areas to provide greater security for populations and promote public health.
