Parliament: Deputies return to the hemicycle with debate with Minister of Internal Affairs on the agenda

Deputies meet on Wednesday, 11, and Thursday, 12, in the first ordinary session of 2023 with an agenda that includes a debate with the Minister of Internal Administration, Paulo Rocha, at the request of the PAICV parliamentary group.

In addition to questions from parliamentarians to the Government, the agenda also includes the approval of two bills for a final global vote. One that makes the first amendment to the legal regime relating to weapons and their ammunition, and the second that establishes the legal regime of public employment, defines the fundamental principles of the public service, as well as the legal regime for the constitution, modification and termination of the legal relationship of public employment.

The parliamentary session, the first in January, which, contrary to the usual three days of work, extends over just two days, due to the special session on Friday the 13th, in celebration of Freedom and Democracy Day. It also includes a point for the approval of the draft resolution that approves the inscription of the former President of the Republic Jorge Carlos Fonseca in the framework of the Order Amílcar Cabral.

The agenda finally establishes a proposal for a resolution that approves for ratification the agreement between the Government of Cape Verde and the government of the United States of America to strengthen tax compliance and implement the ‘Foreign Account Compliance Act’ (FATCA).
