Cape Verdean international Paralympic athlete Gracelino Barbosa, world record holder in the 110 and 100 meters hurdles and bronze medalist at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, is passing through his hometown, where he “charges energy” with a view to qualifying for Paris’2024.
The most awarded of all Creole athletes, with 23 medals won at the World Championship, of which 12 are gold, is “recharging” his energies for the next competitions. All in order to attack the qualification for the next Olympic Games, having already lined up as its first major objective, its participation in the Grand Prix Series in Tunisia 2023, to be played from the 6th to the February 9.
At the age of 37, the athlete competes in the T-20 category, the class in which he won the bronze medal in the 400 meters at the Olympic Games in Rio’2016 (Brazil). He revealed to Inforpress that he chose to work in Cape Verde to take advantage of the heat to the detriment of the cold that it feels in Europe, since next Sunday he will be competing in the Portuguese Championship.
In Portuguese lands, Barbosa will be representing Académica de Coimbra, the second club he represented in Portugal and to which he chose to return, with the promise of helping the emblem of Coimbra in raising “many points”, for a greater projection in the competition.
