Opening in Casablanca of the African E-Sports Championships, a first

The African eSports Championship opened on Saturday in Casablanca and will last until August 21, 2024, we learned.

The city will transform into the true capital of African eSports, welcoming the continent’s best athletes ready to compete for their nation’s honor and a coveted place at the eSports World Championships in Riyadh next November.

The event will begin in grand style with a spectacular opening ceremony on August 16 at the Mohammed V Sports Complex. This will be the prelude to a series of intense competitions that will see more than 180 athletes from 17 countries compete in five categories: CS2 Open, CS2 Women, MLBB Open, MLBB Women and PubG Mobile. These exceptional talents will highlight not only their individual skills, but also the rise of eSports in Africa.

The African Digital Sports Confederation (ACDS) in a nutshell

The African Digital Sports Confederation (ACDS) is the unifying body for eSports in Africa. Founded in June 2023, ACDS now has 46 member federations spread across the continent. Its mission is to promote and develop digital sports in Africa, bringing together member federations to foster unity and cooperation through pan-African initiatives and competitions. ACDS strives to create a sustainable and responsible eSports ecosystem in Africa, playing a central role in shaping eSports governance standards and practices on the continent.
