ONAD-CV applies four-year suspension to four athletes of Seven and club resorts to instances sportive and judicial

ONAD-CV has decided to apply a four-year suspension to four female handball athletes from Seven Stars, “for refusing anti-doping control”, a position contested by the direction of Seven that will resort to instances sportive and judicial.

According to the ONAD-CV final report of the disciplinary proceedings instituted against athletes Carina Santos, Indira Gandy, Nádia Pereira and Rosângela Andrade that Inforpress had access to, the athletes in question were suspended for four years from the competition due to refusing to be submitted to doping control tests, in July, after a game at the Vavá Duarte Sports Pavilion.

The National Anti-Doping Organization of Cape Verde (ONAD-CV)justifies, in a note dated November 10, 2022, the penalty imposed on athletes as “when refusing to submit to anti-doping test control after notification to the effect” the athletes in question acted “freely, voluntarily, and in an unlawful manner, capable of constituting a violation of anti-doping rules”.

With this sanction, the ONAD informs the parties that during this period, that is, the four years, the athletes in question “are unable to participate in any capacity, in any competition or activity, unless they participate in anti-doping education or rehabilitation programs authorized (…)”.
