Mr Alfred Nii Kotey Ashie, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Odododidoo for Election 2024, has called on students to take their academic work seriously and avoid cheating during examinations. He said such practices would land them in trouble and end their academic pursuit there by painting a bad picture in their families. Mr Ashie made the call at the end of free extra classes he organised for Basic Schools in the constituency, in Accra. He said the exercise was his personal contribution towards improving the quality of education in the constituency. He said there had been reports of examination malpractices, which students involved who wrote examinations at the Basic, Secondary and Tertiary levels, stressing, that, 'it's those who fail to learn when they have the time who mostly resort to cheating.' Mr. Ashie said: 'Success comes from hard work, and… you cannot achieve anything great without pain and labour.' He reminded them that cheating during examinations was equal to stealing and therefore cautioned persons who sold examination materials to students and parents to desist from the act. Mr. Ashie tasked the students to stand up to the highest stand of discipline and reminded them that examination was for them to give an account of what they had studied, and they should always stick to the rules of examinations. He appealed to them to desist from being used by politicians to engage in electoral malpractices. Mr. Ashie donated educational materials to all the schools that took part in the free extra classes and pledged his commitment to supporting the schools in the constituency. Source: Ghana News Agency
