Nazinon: A site of approximately 42 hectares was identified on Tuesday in Manga in the Nazinon region to house a future industrial zone, in accordance with the presidential initiative to provide each region of Burkina Faso with an industrial center. The prospecting mission was conducted by a joint team from the National Land Coordination Authority (ANCF) and the General Directorate for Industrial Development (DGDI), accompanied by local authorities and regional technical service agents in charge of land.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the site of approximately 42 hectares reserved for the future industrial zone is located between the Poecin districts of sector n°4 and Gago of sector n°5 of the city of Manga. Charles Dalla, head of the Studies and Litigation Department at ANCF, noted that it is included as an industrial zone in the master plan for development and urban planning, which is already an asset.
On the ground, spontaneous settlements and fields were observed during the mission’s visit. Mr. Dalla believes that consensual solutions will be found through the planned awareness-raising missions and the existing conciliation procedure. The president of the Manga municipal special delegation, Berenger Bihoun, assured that discussions will also be organized to resolve misunderstandings and encourage everyone’s support for the project. He emphasized that the creation of the industrial zone is a major opportunity for the municipality of Manga and for the country.
The Director General of Industrial Development, Djiswene Roger Ramde, reiterated that the development of the site will involve several stages, including physical security, the release of land, and finally development and servicing. The objective is to have “clean and suitable” sites to accommodate new industrial units.
Welcoming the creation of the industrial zone in Manga, the regional director of Industry and Commerce of Nazinon, Guillaume Dofini, highlighted that the region has several potentialities to be exploited by future units, such as sesame, citrus fruits, livestock, and its strategic position as it borders Ghana. Before the field visit, the ANCF and DGDI mission had discussed with the regional technical services in charge of land and the special municipal delegation the modalities of implementing the project.
