National Bank funds 752 projects with more than 1 billion Kwanzas

The National Bank of Angola (BNA) has funded 752 projects under Notice 10, with a total of 1.06 billion kwanzas, the institution’s governor, Manuel Tiago Dias, said on Thursday in Luanda.

“Notice number 10”, he explained, began with credits in 2020 and applies to financial institutions under the supervision of the BNA, stipulating the granting conditions.

Manuel Tiagos Dias, who opened the 1st Credit Guarantee Forum, said that financing under Notice 10 represents 16.49 per cent of the overall portfolio of credit granted and credit to the real economy represents 71 per cent of the portfolio.

With regard to the credit granted to the real economy sector, he said that 10 per cent of this came from the Credit Guarantee Fund (FGC), which is aimed at the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors.

Of the investment made, he said, 43,882 new jobs had been created, particularly in the areas of agriculture, livestock and the manufacturing industry.

“The results fill us with hope because with a greater set of synergies that intervene in the chain, we will be able to achieve better results in the medium term,” said the governor.

On the other hand, he suggested that the Credit Guarantee Forum be institutionalized, with a view to strengthening the national financial system and relaunching the participation of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the productive sector.

“This Forum, which adds a lot of value to the creation of synergies, should be institutionalized as a real platform for consultation, assessment and action by the Credit Guarantee Fund with banking institutions and specialists, to reflect on mechanisms for granting credit, as well as defining a strategy for the lines of financing,” the source said.

The event is organized by the Credit Guarantee Fund and was held under the slogan “Guaranteeing Production and Promoting Food Security”, with the aim of publicizing the credit guarantee lines available to strengthen production and food security in the country.

The Credit Guarantee Forum was attended by 250 specialists involved in the National Guarantee and Credit System, from entrepreneurs to those in charge of the financing chain.
