On the afternoon of Tuesday, August 23, the Minister of Justice, Dr. Joana Rosa, received a Delegation from the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHP) as part of the trip to Cape Verde, between the 23rd and 25th of this month, for the official presentation of the “Ubuntu Hub Cities” initiative to be held. in the city of Praia.

The purpose of the meeting was to present to the Governor the proposals within the scope of this mission, with emphasis on the Project of Human Rights Defenders of the East and Horn of Africa (DefendDefenders) and the Pan-African Network of Human Rights Defenders (AfricanDefenders).

“DefendDefenders” aims to strengthen the work of human rights defenders and civil society organizations across the region, reducing their vulnerability to the risk of persecution and increasing their ability to defend human rights.

The President of the ACHPR Mr. Rémy Ngoy Lumbu, in turn, praised the availability, openness and engagement of the Minister in the defense and promotion of policies related to Human Rights.
