Mental Health: Study reveals impact of COVID-19 pandemic and women were the most sensitive

The study on the “Impacts of COVID-19 on the mental health of the Cabo Verdean population” reveals that there has been a worsening of the disease situation, by the increase in cases of depression, and women were more sensitive than men.

 

This information was announced today by the President of the National Institute of Public Health (INSP), Maria da Luz Lima, on the sidelines of a workshop on mental health held by this institution, to mark October 10, World Public Health Day.

 

According to the report, this is a survey carried out and the preliminary results have been presented today, which actually say that at the time and probably today, there is still an important impact on the mental health of Cabo Verdeans.

 

We had situations of patients who reported that there was a worsening of the situation of the disease, increased the number of pressure, of people who reinforced the medication, and there were people who were not taking medication and began to receive it, both for anxiety and depression,” she said.
