Meeting of the UNWTO Regional Commissions in Africa recommends mobilization of vaccines in quantity for the whole Africa

The mobilization of vaccines in quantity to immunize the populations in all African countries is one of the recommendations out of the 64th meeting of the UNWTO Regional Commissions in Africa held on the island of Sal.

At a press conference to review the meeting, which was attended by tourism ministers from more than two dozen African countries and representatives of countries from other continents as observers, the Minister of Tourism and Transport of Cabo Verde, Carlos Santos, as host, said the meeting was “fruitful.”

“It was a fruitful meeting because current issues were examined, namely the COVID-19 crisis, the effects it had on tourism, the effects it had on the economy. We have also examined the issue has to do with airline connectivity which, as you all know, is an Achilles heel of the African continent and the impact this has on tourism,” he said.

Carlos Santos said it was also an opportunity for Cabo Verde to say clearly that to turn around the COVID-19 situation and resume tourism, the bet has to be “obligingly” in the vaccination of people.
