Media Professionals in Kenedougou Trained to Combat Disinformation


Orodara: The Guiriko Regional Directorate of Communication organized a workshop in Orodara, Kenedougou, focused on equipping media professionals with tools to combat disinformation. The event, chaired by the High Commissioner of the province, Sadou Sakira, aimed to enhance the skills of journalists and communicators.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the 24-hour workshop was designed to arm journalists and communicators against the challenges posed by disinformation and information manipulation. Sadou Sakira emphasized the importance of the workshop’s theme and encouraged participants to engage with the presentations offered, highlighting the impact these communications could have on improving their work.



Boukari Malgoubri, the regional director in charge of Communication of Guiriko, noted the significant participation of media professionals and stressed the importance of collaboration between journalists and communicators. He pointed out the growing issue of false information, especially on social media platforms, and the necessity of building strong synergies to address this.



The workshop facilitated discussions on the distinct yet complementary roles of communication and journalism. Through interactive sessions, participants were urged to collaborate in delivering reliable and verified information to the public.
