The Municipal Assembly of Maio on Tuesday approved the amending budget of the local autarchy, which was increased by 19 percent (%), with favorable votes from the MpD bench and the PAICV abstaining.
When justifying the favorable vote, the representative for the municipal bench of the Movement for Democracy (MpD- power), Zacarias Freire, assured that the budget is always a forecast, so he is always willing to undergo changes.
In fact, he considered that the increase of about 19% “is a good sign”, taking into account that there was an increase of about sixty-odd thousand escudos, which in his opinion represents “a great capacity of the City Hall to collect s revenue”.
He added that the raising of more revenue by the City Hall, from various partners of the City Council, allowed the completion of some sports infrastructure, such as the grass training fields in the towns of Barreiro and Calheta, as well as for the rehabilitation of some houses, and professional training support.
“Therefore, the City Hall managed, on the other hand, to raise more than 25 million escudos with the sale of land, which demonstrates the confidence of investors in the island and in the current City Hall team. This demonstrates that the island is on the path of development and that everyone believes in the good work that is being done at the moment”, he emphasize.
