The municipality shares an extensive river and land border with the provinces of Lualaba, Kassai, Chicapa and Mussamba in the DRC. Speaking to the press, on the sidelines of the visit of the governor of Lunda-Norte, Filomena Miza to the Cambulo health units, the director of the Municipal Health Department, Conde Lumo, made revealed that 15 technicians are stationed along the border for screening and raising awareness among the population, aiming to reinforce prevention measures. He said that the Health Directorate is in permanent contact with the health authorities of the DRC provinces that border Cambulo, to update the situation in the districts. The official informed that if a case is registered in one of the DRC provinces that borders Cambulo, the first measure will be the temporary closure of the border. On the other hand, he guaranteed that all health units in the municipality are prepared to deal with possible cases of monkeypox. The municipality's health network is made up of 19 units, including two hospitals, six centers and ten health posts, served by nine doctors and 151 nurses. Monkeypox is an emerging infectious disease caused by a virus transmitted to humans by infected animals, mainly rodents, whose symptoms are blisters and sores on the skin, fever, chills, headache, muscle pain, excessive back fatigue. However, transmission of monkeypox can occur through close and prolonged contact with wounds and respiratory secretions released by the infected person when coughing or talking.
