Local fishing vessels prohibited by the IMP to going out to the sea in the next 48 hours

The Port Maritime Institute (IMP) has prohibited local fishing vessel to go out to the sea in the next 48 hours, due to weather conditions in the archipelago from September 22 to 24.

“The Maritime Authority informs all shipowners, owners, employers and fishermen in general that for safety reasons it is forbidden to go out to the sea local fishing vessels, boats and small vessels at national level,” the statement read.

The security notice is valid for the next 48 hours.

In a statement, the Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics stated that the weather will be conditioned in the next two days (23 and 24), by the passage of a tropical depression, between the West African Coast and the Eastern Barlavento Islands (Sal and Boavista).

“During its movement in the North direction, it may cause the occurrence of rain and thunderstorms throughout the archipelago, intensification of the wind and worsening of the sea conditions in the Barlavento Region, with higher incidence to the East-Northeast of the Archipelago”, it reads.
