Lídia Lima points out changes in attitudes, mentalities and behavior as challenges in the context of sexual violation

The Secretary of State for Social Inclusion, Lídia Lima, this Tuesday considered the issue of attitudes, mentalities and behavior on the part of the Cape Verdean population as “a real challenge” in terms of frame of sexual violation against children and women.

The Minister was speaking to the press within the scope of the political dialogue on the abuse and sexual exploitation of minors and women in Cape Verde, taking place at the Banquet Hall of the National Assembly, in Praia. She also said that this is the only way to promote “change in our culture and values”, aiming to improve the situation of sexual violation of children and women.

For this reason, she advanced that the intention of participating in the event is to take the opportunity to talk about the direction that “our society” is taking in the face of the problem, to talk about the gains and the existing challenges in terms of improvements.

“Here we are going to talk less about the barriers that have limited the effective implementation of laws and policy measures, we are going to dwell on poverty and social vulnerability and a little about other social barriers, such as drug use, the inherent issue (network social responsibility) and parental responsibility”, she said.
