Koupela Public Health Police Brigade Members Sworn In at High Court


Kourittenga: Members of the Koupela Public Health Police Brigade (BPHP) were sworn in on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the city’s High Court. The ceremony took place under the presidency of the court’s president, Hamado Kiendrebeogo.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the swearing-in ceremony was conducted to ensure the members of the Public Health Police Brigade adhere to their mission with impartiality and in compliance with the Public Health Code. The members pledged not to disclose investigation results and to refrain from accepting any unauthorized remuneration.

This Brigade, appointed by decree on July 15, 2025, by the President of the special delegation of the commune of Koupela, Moumouni Sagnon, consists of eight members from various services. Key figures include the President of the Brigade, Adama Belem, who is also the secretary general of the Koupela town hall, and other representatives from the sanitary hygiene service, municipal and national police, livestock and environment departmen
ts, and water and sanitation services.

The primary missions of the Public Hygiene Police Brigade involve raising public awareness about hygiene rules, ensuring their application, recording violations, and collecting fines from offenders. The Court authorized the Brigade members to assume their duties after the oath-taking ceremony and reminded them of the legal framework governing their mission.

In his address, President of the Court, Hamado Kiendrebeogo, emphasized the importance of their role in maintaining cleanliness in Koupela. He encouraged them to act courageously within the bounds of the law. Kiendrebeogo also advised against letting personal relationships interfere with their duties, emphasizing that rigorous mission fulfillment benefits the whole community.

The President of the Brigade, Belem Adama, highlighted the need for public cooperation, stating that they will focus on awareness activities before strictly enforcing the rules. He urged citizens to support and understand the Brigade’s efforts

The Brigade members also introduced themselves to the High Commissioner of the province of Kourittenga, Moctar Ilboudo, who assured them of the administration’s support. He expressed the administration’s commitment to assisting the Brigade in gaining public acceptance and credibility.
