The Ketu South office of the Electoral Commission (EC) has disclosed that it is resolving all issues of missing names reported during the recent exhibition of the voters register. A few are, however, pending to be resolved. Mr Kofi Sakyi Boampong, the District EC Officer in an interview with Ghana News Agency said the errors, omission and technical issues which affected some voters including Mr. Bright Kwashie Ege, Deputy Regional National Democratic Congress Secretary had since been corrected ahead of the December 7 elections. Mr Boampong said: 'A total of 120 filed for inclusion and 35 were actually effected with 14 pending. What this means is that the rest, though they filed, their names were already in the database and so no need to include them. 'For the pending 14, the people are yet to physically come to the office for the actual inclusion.' He said the office had reached out to those 14 to personally visit the office this September for the inclusion process noting, it was important as failure t o do so might disenfranchise them on the day of the polls. Mr Boampong, however, could not confirm the total figure of names missing in the exhibited register for the municipality saying, his outfit could only determine that through the number of people who had visited the exhibition centres and filed for inclusion, highlighting the significance of voters to take exhibition exercises seriously. The EC officer said the recently conducted exhibition exercise simply aimed to offer voters the opportunity to verify their details in the register for accuracy, confirm their registration status, and identify errors for correction to ensure a credible register to reduce potential electoral disputes and promote peaceful elections.
