Judo: Djamila Silva wins bronze medal at the African Championships in Dakar

Cabo Verdean international judoka Djamila Silva on Thursday won a bronze medal in the 52 Kg category at the African Judo Championships in Dakar (Senegal), qualifying for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The information was provided by the Cabo Verdean Olympic Committee (COC), which also reports that other Creole athletes who also competed today, in this African event, Alexandre Silva, in the 60 kg, and Sandra Borges in -57 kg, fell by the wayside after they lost their fights. The Cabo Verdean team has two more athletes in this competition, Magner Mendes at -73 kg and Sandrine Billiet in -63 kg.

“We are now attentive to our other athletes in the competition and the world ranking to see the qualification possibilities of our athlete”, states the COC communication.

The Cabo Verdean delegation, which has been in Dakar since Wednesday, is mentored by coach Noel Delgado.
