JPAI advocates higher education to prioritize innovation

JPAI expressed concern Thursday about the situation of higher education and argued that the country will only develop at the desired pace if youth have access to higher education which prioritizes innovation.

This statement was made by the Vice President of youth of the African Independence Party of Cabo Verde (JPAI), Viviane Brito, at a press conference today in the City of Praia to talk about the beginning of the university school year in Cabo Verde.

“Our country will only develop at the pace we want, if today’s youth and next generation have access to higher education which prioritizes innovation. Therefore, school action is essential designed and supporting with scholarships and research support funds so that our young people have access, on an equal and competitive basis, to higher education”, she defended.

She considered that the commitment to the development of higher education in Cabo Verde is crucial, so she says she understands that it is possible to find answers to the challenges, especially in the long term.

“However, our education system, despite the numerous and visible gains achieved, is still very traditional, and often does not awaken or does not know how to take advantage of the true potential of our young people,” she said, stressing that there are chronic problems to be solved.
