Journalists in Tuy Trained on Culture and Tourism Strategy

Ouagadougou: The provincial directorate of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism of Tuy organized a training session for journalists and communicators on the National Strategy for Culture and Tourism (SNCT) and the fight against disinformation. This session aimed to enhance participants’ ability to effectively disseminate the SNCT and combat misinformation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the workshop gathered around thirty individuals, including journalists, presenters, press correspondents, activists, bloggers, and Facebook page administrators. The High Commissioner of Tuy Province, Issiaka Segda, emphasized that Burkina Faso has adopted this strategy to showcase its cultural wealth, preserve heritage, and enhance its appeal as a tourist destination.

The event featured two key presentations. The first, by tourism services administrator Bamassa Ouattara, covered the SNCT’s foundations, vision, guiding principles, objectives, and the actors involved in its implementation. Ouattara encouraged media professionals to actively participate in promoting the strategy.

The second session, led by journalism and communications expert Bakary Kone, examined the differences and similarities between journalism and communications, highlighting their roles in countering disinformation. Participants explored how these fields can synergize in the communications landscape.

Journalist Joseph Kabore, director of Radio Evangile Developpement in Hounde, expressed gratitude to the Tuy Provincial Directorate and the supervisory ministry for organizing the event. He committed to utilizing the insights gained to enhance media content production both on-air and online.
