International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam presents Cesária Évora film with guest speaker Miroca Paris

The documentary about the late Cape Verdean singer Cesária Évora, by Ana Sofia Fonseca, will be screened at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, which takes place from November 9 to 20, in the city of Amsterdam, in the Netherlands.

The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam organization highlights, on its page, that Cesária Évora was called the “Barefoot Diva, but the world star was averse to Diva’s behavior” and that it was “from this loving portrait” that the “image of a singer who never forgot her poor origins”.

“Cesária Évora uses archival images, concert recordings, interviews and images from Cape Verde to paint the portrait of a woman who has always maintained and never given up on her independence”, reads the poster, which announces the documentary, which refers still about “the very difficult childhood” that marked the singer.

According to the festival’s organization, the singer and multi-instrumentalist Miroca Paris, who performed alongside Cesária Évora for 11 years, was also invited, as a speaker, to question and answer sessions and to act in multiple exhibitions of the documentary Cesária Évora.
