INSP will release guidelines on monkey pox and confirms negative result of a suspicious case

The National Institute of Public Health (INSP) will publish between today and Thursday a document on the monkey pox with disease guidelines for professionals and the general population, after analysis of a case with negative results.

The information was announced today to Inforpress, in the City of Praia, by the president of the INSP, Maria da Luz Mendonça, when asked about suspected cases in the country, having announced that in the laboratory of Praia, until this moment, only a resident case arrived, which was analyzed, but with negative result.

According to the same source, the country, more specifically the City of Praia, for about three weeks has national capacity for laboratory diagnosis of monkey pox, reagents, equipment, as well as trained human resources.

“For now we are creating capacity in the virology laboratory in Praia, because we think that as we are at the beginning of the outbreak there is still no need to be on all islands with reagents, although the technicians are all able to diagnose the cases of monkey pox”, said Maria da Luz Mendonça.
