IFC Africa to make 50 million dollars available to Cabo Verde for tourism and transport sectors

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) for Africa will make 50 million dollars available to Cabo Verde in the coming months to support tourism, transport and airport companies, the Institution’s Vice President announced on Thursday.

 

Sérgio Pimenta, who was speaking during a press conference after meeting with Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva, said this loan will have a “very important” impact on Cabo Verdean companies as it will be long-term financing.

 

He explained that the 50 million dollars will be disbursed “in the coming months” to help the country in terms of tourism, transport connectivity with support at airports, but stressed that the idea is to continue to collaborate with Cabo Verde and extend this support to other sectors such as energy, the digital economy, among other areas.

 

“We also wanted to see what we can do with financial institutions in order to support the creation of small and medium-sized enterprises and the development of existing small and medium-sized enterprises,” said the official, who assured that the International Finance Corporation will also provide innovative tools for Cabo Verdean companies.
