ICIEG and INE join efforts to update statistical data on “use of time and unpaid work”

The Cape Verdean Institute for Gender Equality and Equity (ICIEG) and the National Statistics Institute (INE) signed a memorandum of understanding this Wednesday aimed at updating statistical data on “use of time and unpaid work”.

According to the president of ICIEG, Marisa Carvalho, the study takes place within the scope of the project “to promote the participation of women in democratic processes”, developed in partnership with the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID).

He stated that this survey is essential for the elaboration of national public policies and that it was already necessary to update it, since the last study was carried out in 2012.

Marisa Carvalho recalled that the study contributed to the elaboration of the national care plan, which established the entire load of unpaid work that women actually have in their daily lives, in addition to all formal work.
